These letters may spell “give” but when you support the YMCA of South Florida, it means so much more. That’s because the Y is more than a gym…it’s a cause. Supporting the Y is easy, read below on the different ways you can give back to help strengthen our community.

Annual Campaign

We’re more than a place, we’re a cause. Every day, the Y strengthens South Florida through programs and services focused on:

All kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, under the guidance of caring adults who believe in their potential. We see every interaction with young people as an opportunity for learning and development–all grounded in the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Bernard Parris Healthy Living Health and well-being are all about balance. That’s why we help people and families build and maintain healthy habits for spirit, mind and body in their everyday lives. By helping kids, adults, families and seniors from all walks of life to improve their health and well-being, we build a stronger community.

Social Responsibility

With our doors open to all, we bring together people from all backgrounds, and support those who need us most. We take on the most urgent needs in our community and inspire a spirit of service in return. Our members, volunteers, supporters and staff demonstrate the power of what we can achieve by giving back together

What if more people joined our cause? Imagine what South Florida would be like if we doubled the amount of annual campaign dollars raised…

  • 1,800 more kids had a safe place to go after school to learn, grow, and thrive
  • 3,000 more children learn drowning prevention and water safety skills
  • 5,000 more families had the guidance and tools to lead healthier, more balanced lives together

MLK Day of Service

Martin Luther King Jr. once stated “Ultimately a great nation is a compassionate nation. No individual or nation can be great if it does not have a concern for the least of these.” The Y finds this comment to be true through our mission to strengthen our community through providing a place to improve mind, body and spirit for all. Annually on the Martin Luther King Jr. National holiday, the Y joins together with YMCA staff, members and community volunteers to reach out to those in our community who are considered the least in our society but to whom have the most need. On this day we want to remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by bringing our community together to serve those who cannot help themselves and in turn strengthen our community as a whole.

Dr. King once stated, “The well off and the secure have too often become indifferent and oblivious to the poverty and deprivation in their midst. Ultimately a great nation is a compassionate nation. No individual or nation can be great if it does not have a concern for “the least of these.” The Day of Service project’s help bring many different people from the community together to help serve our neighbors and impact their life in a direct way.
